Snowmobile Trip
Landon, Roger and Zac went to Pinedale, Wyoming snowmobiling last week. They had a great time, even if the weather didn't cooperate until the last day. Landon had one major wreck the first day, hitting a rock the size of a truck, and ruining both trailing arms.........oh well - all's well that ends well.

Together Again
Landon and Derick Roskelley haven't seen each other since September, when Derick left for Salina, Kansas, where he is playing ball for Brown Mackie College. It was good to get them back together and reminisce about old times, and compare stories of life, classwork, and BASEBALL while away at college.

Home Sweet Home
Landon has enjoyed being home, hanging and shopping with mom and dad, catching up with friends, sitting on Santa's lap (unexpectedly), finishing up Harry Potter 6, getting his debit card mixed up with Mike Rose (whoops!) and sleeping. He wasn't very happy to hear from Dr. Moesinger at his post-op appointment, that he was STILL supposed to take it easy.......hope he realizes that doctors DO go to medical school for a reason !

It's a Win at the Wrestles!
Wednesday, November 29, 2006
Well I guess it's official.....
BYU will meet the Oregon Ducks in the December 21st Las Vegas Bowl. This year's showdown will mark the sixth meeting between BYU and Oregon, dating back to the 1964 season. Landon's teammate Jon Keller is from Eugene Oregon, and a HUGE Ducks fan. There are also alot of other Oregonian's on the TVCC team, and the Ducks are their team of choice. Landon of course is rooting for BYU. It will be a great matchup, with alot of pride (Landon's and Jon's) and bragging rights riding on the outcome !

Things are going well......
Landon is feeling pretty good, and getting around just fine. He is really busy with school work. Finals are next week. He'll probably be home LATE Thursday night (Dec 7th), and won't have to be back until January 6-7th ! The team is delivering their cases of oranges in the next couple of days, and we have threatened him about lifting too much - hope he listens !!

All's well that ends well
Landon arrived back in Ontario at about 11:45 last night. The flight was uneventful, and he got pushed in a wheelchair through both airports. He didn't have a very good night, as his bed was NOT as comfortable as his dad's recliner. It will be good to have these next two weeks over, and then have him home for a WHOLE MONTH !

Football in Ontario
Ontario High School - Home of the Tigers
Landon is good friends with Jose Garcia, a teammate who lives in Ontario Oregon. Jose's brother plays football for Ontario High, and last Saturday night they went to watch the semi-final playoff game with a rival team. Landon commented on how much he had enjoyed HIS football playing days at Morgan High:)

A Funny Thing Happened........
One night while Landon was out selling cases of oranges, he was invited into a home where about 15 people were obviously having a Christian bible study class. After apologizing for interrupting them (they said no problem), he proceeded to sell four cases ! Then they asked him if he would like to join them in studying James 1:5, to which he responded, "Oh, yea.. "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not and it shall be given". He said jaws dropped, and eyes popped and THEN they asked where he was from.... When he said, UTAH (with a big smile), they quickly turned the subject to the Disney movie CARS....
I guess they figured conversion was NOT an option :)

Wahoo !!!
Landon called last night about 10 pm, and he finally got his 60th case of oranges SOLD ! Many thanks to Jose Garcia, a good friend and teammate, who after selling his OWN 60 cases, offered to help Landon finish HIS. Now maybe they can use their charming sales personalities to help Jon Keller (Landon's roommate) who is struggling with His sales:)

Moving indoors
Oranges anyone ?
The TVCC baseball team has been working on their annual orange sale. They canvass the entire town of Ontario, Oregon with cases of oranges, and are almost always welcomed with open arms (and wallets). Landon has only had the door slammed in his face ONCE, and his non-member teammate jokingly told him that this would prepare him for his future mission :)

College Classes at TVCC
It seems all we talk about is baseball.... but Landon IS attending college also :)
During Fall/Winter quarters he is/will be taking English (writing), Psychology, History (western civ.), and Algebra, along with weight training and baseball. He'll save Biology and MORE math for spring quarter. He is doing well, and keeping his grades up. We are proud of him !
Landon is coming home THIS weekend
He will get here on Thursday and leave to go back on Sunday. He can hardly wait to see Treyson walking, and Manda's and Camryn's new home

10 hours - 100 innings
What a day ! Start time - 8 AM with fog so thick, you couldn't see the outfielders. Each Chukar pitcher threw 18 outs. The pitching was also supplemented by a pitching machine, throwing nothing but sliders. Each player had approx. 30 at bats..... starting with a 1-1 count. Players rotated positions, and were allowed a half hour lunch break. It was once again Blue vs Orange, and once again, the Blue team came away with the win. The team will now move to their indoor practice facility until after the first of the year. It was a GREAT fall season - and we can hardly wait till SPRING !
From Landon : Thanks again to everyone who supported me in my fundraising efforts. Friends and family, former coaches (little league and high school) Grandmas and Grandpas, Uncles and Aunts, Cousins, Morgan 6th & Morgan 10th (singles) ward members, Morgan High Baseball parents, and my "second" moms and dads - you know who you are !! I love you all !

World Series Final - Blue team takes the title

CSI at TVCC - 10/28/06
CSI won both games this weekend, even though they did not officially keep score. The TVCC team did not play in their usual Blue/Orange teams, but instead wore a unifying "grey". Landon caught both games because the other catcher wasn't feeling well. He threw runners out at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and tagged one at home. He also went 2 for 4, however he was not pleased with the "passed" balls, and felt he could have done better.

Are you ready for some baseball?
5 games , best of 5 wins
Orange team = St. Louis Cardinals
Blue team = Detroit Tigers (Roger is hating this !)
No coaches - each team chooses a captain, pitcher rotation, starting positions, etc. When the final out in the final game is called - the losing team MUST WEAR WHAT THEY HAVE ON AT THAT MOMENT FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK! Everybody root for the BLUE so Landon doesn't have to wear his catching gear for a week :)
Thanks for all the support !
Thanks to ALL of you who traveled to see the game !!
The Chukars lost to CSI, but Landon had a good game, going 3 for 4 and throwing a runner out at 2nd. His last game of the fall schedule is next Saturday at Ontario.
It takes a few minutes to load, especially if you have dial up and not high speed internet - be patient, it's worth the wait !!

CSI Update
Landon is feeling much better - The blue team will play at approx. 3 pm (Second game of double header) Hope to see you all there. He called last night and wanted to make sure I tell everyone that he might not be able to talk to any of us (they are really strict), but I was to let everyone know how appreciative he was that you would take the time to come and see him play !!
Especially those of you who are missing games of YOUR OWN, and PARTIES !! You are the best !!

Sick Sick Sick
Landon went to a walk-in clinic yesterday at 5pm, with a high temp, horrible sore throat and swollen glands. They did a test for strep and mono, which were negative. He was given a prescription, and was told he should feel much better in 24 hours. Haven't talked with him yet this morning - will keep you posted.

Practice and MORE Practice
In preparation for the games against CSI on the 21st and 28th, the Chukars have been stepping up their usual practices. Yesterday, Landon said they broke into units of (4), and were asked to lay down different kinds of hits, i.e., hit and run, sac bunt, squeeze bunt, etc. If ANY of the four missed the hit, then ALL were penalized by either running "the poles" or pushups. Landon said he did 200+ pushups ! - what a night !
Tonight, the blue and orange teams scrimmaged for 9 innings - Final score 0 to 0. Coach Baumann called the game, with no umps, and had the players running the bases in various ways. Landon had two strike em' out, throw em' out at 2nd, and one "block" up the line, when a runner from third plowed him over, trying to vault OVER him. Landon held on to the ball !!

Off to college
Landon has been in Ontario Oregon, at Treasure Valley Community College since September 9th. He will be playing baseball for the Treasure Valley Chukars.
Check out the link (on the sidebar to the left) to see what TVCC Chukar Baseball team is all about - most of the info (at this point) is 05-06 info.
The first week was practice, practice, practice............ with an Alumni game on the 16th. Landon went 2 for 3, with a single and a double, and had a great defensive game behind the plate.
School started on Monday the 18th, and it's been a busy week for him that has passed quickly.
He'll be coming home for the weekend (23-24th) for Jake Blazzard and Josh Wilson's missionary farewells.
