Chukars split games with Yaks
First game was tied 1 to 1 until late in the game when the Yaks picked up 5 runs. Final score TVCC 1 ~ Yaks 6. In the second game, the Chukars came out on top ~ 8 to 4. Landon played a great defensive game with his "new" glove that he absolutely LOVES.....and if his bat would just get hot, then things would be absolutely perfect ! Judy Rosekelley and daughter Rachel were in Boise for volleyball today, and were able to come up later in the evening to see the field and dorms, meet some of Landon's roommates, and then they all went out for pizza. Roger and Landon are going to catch a late movie tonight, then Rog will stay overnight in Landon's dorm and head home tomorrow.

Thought for the day.......
"Just pretend that the stick on your shoulder, Is as wide as a bald eagle’s wing. You’re a bird on a wire, And your hands are on fire—But you’re never too eager to swing."
"Stand as still as a rabbit in danger, Watch the pitch with the eyes of a cat. What will fly past the mound— Unforgettable sound— Is the ball as it cracks off the bat.” - J. Patrick Lewis

League Games Start Up
The Chukars split the double header yesterday with the Walla Walla Warriors. The boys had 12 hits in the first game, and 11 in the second. Hobgood pitched the 1st game, and took the loss, and Jonny "K" pitched a great second game. Landon caught innings 7-8-9 of the first game, and all innings of the second game. He went 1 for 4, with a single that brought in 2 RBI's. It was his "favorite" hit - straight over third. He was also able to get a guy out at third, had no passed balls, and felt he had a really good game. Landon called us at 9:30 MST, and they were just leaving Walla Walla after eating at a great "all you can eat" pizza place. It's a 4-5 hour bus ride home, so they had a late night.

# of times we groaned, sighed, and gritted our teeth ? ...... a few.....
# of times we smiled, laughed, and were told we were "Best Friends"? .... too many to count :)
The Chukars played great, and we enjoyed the games as usual. Camryn was the cutie pie of the stadium, and everyone loved her. Landon was glad to see her, and got a kick out of her cheering him on quite LOUDLY at times. There is an announcer that really makes a BIG deal over the players as they come up to bat, whenever she heard Cam Edman's name announced, Camryn would say, "That's MY name", and also when Landon's name was announced, she would scream out "Landon Lee - Landon Lee", over and over. We had to tell her to quite down sometimes. Once when Mitch Phillips was on deck, we were standing near the dugout. I whispered in Camryn's ear, "That is Landon's friend, Mitch". Well, she proceeded to shout out - "Hi MITCH !" for all to hear. It sure took him by surprise !! Now that we are home and it's over we can smile.....but it will be a long time before we run the numbers of this past weekend again !!

TVCC vs CSI @ Ontario
Today the Chukars split the double header with the screamin' golden eagles from the College of Southern Idaho. TVCC won the first game 5 to 4, and lost the second 7 to 1. Landon got a double, that produced the only ribbie in the second game. Rog was able to travel to Ontario and watch the games between "work" days at the Kimberly, Idaho Wonder Bread Depot.

Gentry Ford Tourney
The Chukars had a great weekend playing against the Miles City Pioneers and Southwestern Oregon Lakers. They came up 2nd overall, and Landon said the coaches had positive comments for the team, and were encouraged on the improvement from last week. They played two games each day, and Landon caught one game each day, and Jose' the other. Landon seems to always have great defensive games, and was able to throw players out at first, second, third, and also blocked the plate at home. He was pretty sore and tired after the weekend (knees and elbow). When they aren't playing in the game, he and Jose' are kept pretty busy in the bullpens. The Chukars are kept very busy when hosting these tournaments, and are prepping the field from early early morning, till it's time to "put the field to bed".
It's a bit different from high school ball, in that there is NO talking to mom and dad through the fence at the ballfield. The best we can do it try to "catch" his eye and give him a thumbs up once in awhile. Landon is always very appreciative of our support, and it was great to have Grandpa and Grandma Dickson and Grandma LuAnn Rich there to cheer him on ! This is a great time in HIS life, and we are also enjoying EVERY minute.

Fun times in the TVCC dorms
Landon, Mitch and Jon with beautiful heads of hair - BEFORE Jon's girlfriend got a hold of the clippers and decided to get busy.
These guys have always got to be doing something !! Oh well, thank goodness hair grows back !
It takes a minute to load, but it's pretty funny !

Directions to TVCC ball field
Heading west from Boise on I-84 – it’s about 50 miles to the Idaho/Oregon border.
Right after you cross over the Snake River (state line) you will be in Ontario !
Take Exit 376A, (to the right) which will loop you AROUND a clover leaf.
Turn right onto Idaho Avenue, and cross back over the freeway you just exited.
Stay on this road. You will go UNDER the railroad tracks. Disregard any signs to TVCC – they will just confuse you ! These instructions will get you there quicker and easier.
Turn LEFT on SW 4th STREET (Red brick building/black sign/neon green lettering/Northwestern Bank)
Keep going straight for a few blocks, and you will run right into the baseball field.

An Epiphany !
So.... I'm sitting here in the Chukar stands, about a mile from the Oregon/Idaho stateline, staring at the outfield fence, looking at all of the Chukar sponsors........OreIda....hmmm.....that's nice of that "hash brown" company to support our team. Wait a minute - Ore Ida ? Oregon? Idaho? Ah Hah !! I get it now !! :)
More Friends......
Hanigan Tipoff Tournament
We had an enjoyable weekend in Ontario - and didn't freeze like we thought we would. The Chukars played 6 games over 3 days. Landon split the games on Friday and Saturday with Colton Douglass, and would have split Sunday's game with good friend Jose' Garcia, but decided to let his arm rest. It has been hurting lately, and Coach Baumann said to save it for the season ahead. Check out the Argus Observer link at the left, and go to the sports section for info on the games played this past weekend.
